Valentine’s Day silliness

I would love to know who thinks a giant Teddy Bear is a great gift for a grown woman. Oh, I know there women who remain “little girls” with strange affectations. But for the last few years, I have seen TV commercials from a company that offers giant stuffed bears as the ultimate gift of love.

In the latest Liam Neeson thriller, Taken 3, his character gives his college-age daughter a giant stuffed animal as a gift. He soon realizes she is too old for the toy and returns it. I love that scene.

Every year I hear people rail against Valentine’s Day. I don’t understand why. I enjoy a day set aside to celebrate love and romance – but please spare me giant bears, over-priced roses, or any other silliness.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day or ignore it, but celebrate love and romance frequently with thoughtfulness, beauty, and zest.

Take time to enjoy the sweetness in life.
