Trend alert: Gladiator sandals are still strong for spring!

The strappy gladiator sandal has been around for the past season or two, but it is still popular with designers. The strappy sandals made their way into many spring collections. The chicest, new versions are patent leather with a “mod” vibe.

Flat, natural leather styles of this sandal are best kept for casual beach wear. If you like this trend, be prepared to spend.; good looking versions are not cheap. The only really nice value-priced pair we found was at heels.com from Carlos Santana for $69.29.

So if you are dying for a pair, then start looking now, or plan to spend big to get your Roman on.

DolceDolceTip: Be conscious of your calf shape, height, and body silhouette when choosing a gladiator sandal. Look at yourself in a three-way mirror to make sure the length of the sandal is flattering to your leg and over-all body proportions. This is a tricky look to pull off if you have heavy calves, are too short, or if the sandal is too long for your leg.
