Bloating is often the result of bad habits. Caroline Klinge from LoSalt®, a leading reduced sodium salt, has tips on how to avoid the bloat. “These are simple recommendations for changes we can make in our daily lives that don’t involve too much hassle, yet will make us feel significantly healthier,” says Klinge.

Know Your Food Allergies  If you can’t figure out the cause of your bloating have your doctor test for food allergies. Food allergies and intolerances can be a common source of bloating, so it’s reassuring to recognize the cause. Be sure to make the trip to the doctor and don’t self-diagnose because cutting out food groups unnecessarily can lead to negative health effects.

Take Your Time Eating t properly chew our food, it leads to air swallowing, which is a cause of bloating. Even better, if you take your time eating, you will actually recognize when you are hungry and then not overeat.

Overconsumption of Salt  According to the American Heart Association, nine out of ten Americans eat too much salt. Sodium consumption leads to the retention of fluids in the body and therefore, bloating. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends daily sodium intake of less than 2,400 mg, but the average America consumes 3,400 milligrams per day.

Instead of cutting out salt completely, try LoSalt, with 66 percent less sodium than regular table, sea, and rock salts, but which tastes just like regular salt. Plus, LoSalt is a great source of potassium, which helps to regulate your fluid balance.

Get Active  The weather has finally become nice – so go enjoy the fresh air and get moving. Physical activity will trigger your sweat glands to release fluids which your body could be retaining. Whether it’s an intense run or a leisurely walk, awaken those sweat glands to stop the bloat.

No Carbs after Dark  Carbs such as bread and pasta can cause your body to retain water. Try to stay away from these food groups in the evening when your day is starting to wind down in order to avoid their bloating effect.

LoSalt, the UK’s leading salt substitute, is now available online and in many major U.S. grocery chains.
