Gossipy financial thriller

The Darlings by former investment banker Christina Alger is the fast-paced tale of an immoral, over-privileged Upper East Side family.

The novel glitters with fascinating details of the lives of the rich and famous. The book reads like a combination of a grown-up Gossip Girl and Wall Street. The indulged Darling daughters wrestle with their rich-girl problems, as the men in their lives battle for the spoils of Wall Street amid the economic collapse.

Alger, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, spares no one in her depiction of the fiscal world’s greed and immorality.
This is a well-written, timely, and entertaining debut novel. I predict we will soon see The Darlings on the silver screen.
