When one of her female students is found dead in nearby Lake Turngaluk, Edie is troubled.  She had noticed the girl had been behaving a little differently. There was nothing Edie could put her finger on. She had sensed the girl was up to something but didn’t know how to ask her about it.

After hearing of the death, Edie visits the family and promises to find out who killed the girl. She enlists the help of Sergeant Derek Palliser to investigate. While looking into the case they run into Sonia Gutierrez. Sonia is a lawyer investigating the toxicity of the lake where Martha was found.

Derek Palliser quickly finds suspects. He decides that two soldiers at a nearby base have killed Martha. Edie is not so sure, especially when she finds another weapon at the site.

Soon the murder investigation is crossing into Sonia’s inquiring about an old defence department cover up.

McGrath paints a detailed and fascinating portrait of life in the artic. His characters are memorable and embody the region with beliefs and prejudices. The Bone Seeker is Edie Kiglatuk at her best. Fans of The Killing, Top of the Lake and The Bridge will devour it.
