Easy summer beauty

Gracey HitchcockSummer is the time to lighten up on your look. Try a little bronzer and tinted moisturizer instead of full-on foundation, and powder all the time. Pull your hair up in a ponytail or try fun braids!

But, don’t forget the sexy smoky eye and lip gloss for a beach party, or drinks by the dock. Easy doesn’t mean boring and sloppy.

Summer is hot and you should be too. Let the season move you.

Lighten up your look!

Warmer weather calls for a lighter brighter look. Here are simple and beautiful ways to change up your look for spring.

Protect skin from summer rays with a dry-touch sun screen. Many have antioxidants to slow down the aging effects of the environment.   Try New Aveeno Active Naturals Hydrosport Sunscreen Spray with SPF 50 or Glytone Suncare Block Sunscreen Spray Mist SPF 50.  Dry-touch sprays are quick and easy ways to get complete body coverage. They feel cool and won’t damage clothing or feel sticky.

Feeling dramatic? Line your eyes in smudgy black for day or night and shimmery lip gloss.

It’s trendy to look more golden than bronze this summer, choose your sunless tanner carefully and don’t over do. We like Fake Bake’s line of sunless tanners as well as Jergens Natural Glow.

Try a bright matte coral or pink lip colour. For a lighter, more casual look, try sheer lip butter or stain, such as Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.

Humid weather can make skin feel oily. Soak up excess oil with a clay mask. We love Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. It’s a classic and a favourite of makeup artists and other beauty pros. At under $5, can you afford not to try it?

If hot weather makes you break out, try Olay ProX Clear Intensive Refining Sulfur Mask.  It can clear up breakouts caused by excess oil and sweat, but more serious breakouts need a doctor.

Try braiding your damp hair into a cornet for trendy cool summer style. Later gently comb it out into soft beachy waves.
To get his cute look: Spray your hair with a setting spray. We like David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray. It will help your waves hold.

Start your braids where you want your waves to start. The smaller the waves the more defined your waves will be.

Pull your braids back into a knot or cute ponytail. Release your braids and coax them into waves. Tame flyways with a shine spray. We like John Frieda Frizz-Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mistand John Frieda Full Repair Touch-up Fly Away Tamer.

Feeling flirty and fun? Play up your eyes with a couple of coats of mascara and bold stroke of turquoise or violet eye liner. Keep the rest of your face clean and flawless.

Buy a cute pair of wedges and paint your toenails a fun and flirty colour. Try sea green, marine blue, or violet. If you feel vampy, London Butter’s Snog is a hot red-coral perfect for hot summer nights.

For really gorgeous feet, give them an A-list beauty treatment at home that takes only seconds. Several times a week, give them a quick rub with a glycolic acid pad to keep them fresh looking and soft. The glycolic will discourage had skin and calluses, if done regularly. Try our newest favorites, Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating pads. You get 60 for just under $5.
