Tips to reduce stress

Feeling stressed? Don’t reach for a glass of wine or anti-anxiety meds; instead follow fitness expert Jeff Halevy’s tips.

As a fitness expert Jeff contributes to several major television networks and works with clients ranging from Hollywood and Wall Street “royalty” to actual Royals. Jeff Halevy, star of TV series “Workout from Within with Jeff Halevy,” is the CEO and founder of the boutique New York City personal training gym Halevy Life. As a result of his successes with both clients and public health initiatives, Jeff has earned distinction as a “fitness guru” and “star fitness and nutrition expert” by both local and national media. Most notably he was chosen by Newark Mayor Cory Booker to create a healthy lifestyle program for Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign.

Here are Jeff’s personal tips for managing and reducing stress:           


Soak in Epsom salt nightly:  Add one cup of lavender-scented Epsom salt to the bath and soak for 10 minutes. One cup is the “minimum effective dose,” according to Halevy.


Take a gentle yoga class twice a week:  Slow yoga emphasizes posture and breathing.


Practice meditation: Halevy has long done transcendental meditation, repeating a mantra to help escape from his body. Now, however, Halevy has shifted to “mindful” meditation. It focuses on breathing, and pulled him into his body to be more aware of the moment.
