As much fun as Bridget Jones

My Jane Austen Summer, a debut novel by Cindy Jones, is a quirky, endearing star-crossed romance. Lily is a misunderstood Texan who is heartbroken by the dual loss of her mother and her fiancé. Her mother recently died of cancer, her fiancé dumped her, and father remarried all too quickly. Lily, a romantic who is obsessed with Jane Austen and longs to live in a novel, jumps at the chance to indulge her fantasies at a literary festival centered on Austen’s novel Mansfield Park.

Once in London, Lily is caught up in a drama that is straight from the pages of a Jane Austen novel, as the elderly owner of the literary festival fights to keep it afloat. Lily looks for love and a way to repair her battered ego. Jones’s take on Austen and Lily’s lovelorn state is thoroughly relatable.

Austen lovers and romantics won’t have had had this much fun since Bridget Jones’s Diary.
