Connection to the earth

When I was a young woman growing up inLexington, Massachusetts, I would drive to Thoreau’s Walden Pond in nearby Concord when I was upset. It was a calm and quiet place. I have always loved it there. I felt a connection to that legacy of duty and caring that Thoreau encouraged. It gave me a sense of meaning and belonging.

Savor your own connection to the earth and nourish it. It is precious. It seems that much of life is made up of caretaking; of our bodies, families, friends, communities, and environment. As always, I encourage you to find ways to enjoy it. Make it sweet and let it add depth and joy to your life.
