Trend alert: Sexy waves

When you want sex appeal, nothing can beat long loose waves. Donatella Versace, Diane von Furstenberg, and Phillip Lim sent models down the runway showing their spring/summer 2013 collections in sexy seventies waves.

To get this look you will need a 1½ inch barrel curling iron and volumizing products for hold. We like the well-designed, well-priced line of styling appliances from John Frieda by Conair.

Start by blow drying your hair with John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow Spray for long-lasting volume and control. This will really help if you have fine hair or if your style collapses after a few hours.

Next use a 1½ inch curling iron to curl your hair. We usedJohn Frieda John Frieda Volume Curls 1 1/2" Curling Iron by Conair. It has a titanium ceramic coating that minimizes frizz. It heats up to 400 degrees in 30 seconds.

Pin your hair your up in sections to keep it out of your way.

Curl 1 inch sections at time. Wrap the hair around the curling iron barrel from the top down. Do not clip the hair, but hold it for 15 seconds. Release and loosen pin with a hair clip.

Repeat with all the hair. Remove the pins.

Gently loosen the curls with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb.

Spray with John Frieda Luxurious Volume Hairspray and mist with John Frieda Shine Mist Glossing Spray. This is one of the original spray-on shine products and is still one of one of favourites.
