Mangia!

Mama Agata by her daughter Chiara tells the story of Agata Lima or Mama Agata. “Mama Agata” is also a famous cooking school on the Amalfi coast of Italy. In this wonderful book her daughter shares the story of her life with anecdotes of cooking for celebrities – as well as her fabulous recipes.

Mama Agata was once known as Baby Agata to luminaries such as Humphrey Bogart, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Elizabeth Taylor. She shares the secrets that have brought film stars and dignitaries to her table for years. In recent years she has also fed Pierce Brosnan and Woody Harrelson, among others.

My mouth watered as I read her directions for eggplant parmesan and her famous moist lemon cake. The book is full of detailed instructions that will please the beginner as well as more experienced cooks. It will allow anyone to prepare glorious Italian food! I especially appreciated the step-by-step photos of tricky procedures, such as deep-fat and pan frying.
