Black Velvet

If you are looking for a special drink to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, forget hokey green beer. Try serving Black Velvet instead. It is a cocktail made with Guinness and champagne. I can’t vouch for it, as I prefer ale and beer for cooking only. But it has always been a big hit whenever I have seen it served. It is a fun idea for a party.

The drink was invented in 1861 to commemorate the death of Prince Albert. It became very popular and has been making comebacks ever since.

Ice both very cold and fill champagne flutes half and half with:
Guinness
Champagne

Have frosted beer glasses as well as extra Guinness and champagne on hand, too.
