Freshen up your face with fruit

Papaya's are just one of the fresh fruits that make a good mask
If you have been to a spa lately then you know that a facial with a fruit peel or an enzyme facial is all the rage. Light fruit peels are even more effective when done on a regular, or even weekly, basis. So why not do it at home, in between your salon treatments. It takes only minutes to give yourself a quick skin freshening treatment that won’t leave your skin red or irritated. This peel is not a substitute for on that contains concentrated acids that actually resurface your skin. But fresh fruit is full of antioxidants, glycolic acids, and enzymes, all of which will help your skin glow.
To give yourself a quick fresh fruit facial:
Mash 1-2 tablespoons of ripe fruit when you are preparing fruit or berries for a meal or snack. Drain off the excess juice and place the puree in a small covered glass jar in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
Try to use fruit within 24 hours of mashing it to retain all the benefits, as it will begin to oxidize. Overly-ripe fruit is perfect, as it easy to mash.
Mangos, papaya, strawberries, peaches, and raspberries are very rejuvenating; they are high in antioxidants, glycolic acid, and enzymes. Avoid dark berries that will stain your skin.
Apply the mashed fruit to clean skin for 1-3 minutes and then rinse well. The bath or shower is the ideal place to do this very messy procedure. I like to apply a fruit facial to my hands, feet, and arms also. I always have plenty left over, after doing my face.
After the first few times you try this you may be able to leave the mask on longer, up to seven minutes, but don’t overdo it.
If your skin is dry or irritated apply half a mashed avocado or 1 tsp. of plain honey instead. Both honey and avocado are soothing as well as rejuvenating.
Do not try this with any fruit to which you are allergic. If your skin stings a lot or gets numb, rinse right away. Do not put fruit on broken or sunburned skin. Do not do this more than once a week
Enjoy the glow!
