Fast summer beauty fixes

Strut your stuff in a cute suit like this one from www.lulifam.comSummer is the time to strut, sizzle, and show a little skin. But sun, heat, and humidity can fry and fizzle your look. Here are our tried-and-true beauty fixes that will nip any beauty snafus in the bud.

Sun burn
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to the sun’s aging rays, so before the season gets any older invest in good sunscreen and use it! If you hate the greasy feeling of sun protection, try a dry-touch spray. We like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock and Aveeno Hydrosport Sunscreen Spray with SPF 50. Both have antioxidants. Aveeno Hydrosport can even be sprayed on wet skin, so it is great at the beach or at the pool. It also has skin pampering botanicals.

If you get a burn, apply cold compresses and take cool showers for the pain. You can also take a mild pain reliever and apply over-the-counter cortisone cream for a few days to help heal the skin. And stay out of the sun!

Frizzy Hair
Summer is a great time to go with your natural texture. So if you have curly hair, don’t fight it. Coax your curls into pretty ringlets with Pureology – Real Curl Define Cream or Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Style Mousse, Curl Defining, Maximum Hold.

Start with Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner. It contains a Frizz-Mending Complex and natural olive oil; it smooth’s strands, hydrates, and restores hair’s natural defense against frizz.

Next, on damp hair, apply the Frizz-Ease Serum. NEW Sheer Solution.
If you have thick hair, try the Extra Strength Formula; the Original Formula for medium hair; and for fine hair, the New Sheer Solution.

Finish with Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Crème. It leaves hair smooth and shiny, and has a UV filter to protect from sun damage. Plus it replaces natural oils that are lost from blow drying and daily styling.

If you want to make your blow dry to last longer, try Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight Semi-Permanent Styling Spray.  This heat-activated spray blocks out frizz as you straighten your hair, and stays that way for up to three days. This means you can flat iron your hair Friday night and be worry-free until Monday morning!
Trendy braids and cute ponytails are another great option for hot days. Don’t just pull your hair back: braid it and wrap it around your head. Pull your pony high for a retro vibe and tie it with a scarf or ribbon. Goody Simple Styles Fountain Flip makes this style a snap!

Limp hair
If your hair is fine or oily, revive it with dry shampoo. Stylists use dry shampoo to refresh and give body to fine hair. For best results, keep the can about eight inches from your hair and spray in sections. Wait a few minutes for the dry shampoo to absorb oil, and then brush it through your hair. Our favourite go-to dry shampoos are Tresemme. We love that it costs about $5 and is available in different formulas for different hair types. Rene Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo smells fabulous and absorbs oil with natural clay. It costs about $20.

You can also pump up your volume with a few sprays of Pyhtovolume Actif as you blow dry. It works best if you use it on almost dry hair. Spray near the roots. Aveda volumizing tonic creates volume at the roots with certified organic aloe and wheat amino acids that help build body and add shine. It smells lovely.

Melted make-up
Set your make up with a spritz of Skindinavia! This fine mist keeps makeup looking flawless all day, with a patented Temperature Control Technology. No melting, drying out, becoming shiny, or creasing – it’s fabulous. It makes my makeup last through sweaty workouts and long hot Atlanta days!

Bacene
The unsightly breakouts that plague women’s backs in the summer are often brought on by perspiration. Shower or use a cleansing wipe right after exercise to prevent breakouts. And try a basic acne treatment daily when you bathe or shower. We like University Medical Acne Free Clear Skin Treatments 3-Step Kit. It has an effective time-released Benzoyl Peroxide formula and costs about $20.

We also like Glytone Back Acne Spray. This is easy-to-apply two percent salicylic acid spray costs about $25.

If you have more severe breakouts, see a doctor.

Blisters
Blisters seem to be an unavoidable rite of summer for many women. We like Band-Aid Active Friction Block Stick. Keep one with you, if you expect to get, or want to prevent, blisters. If your skin is already damaged, Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister Cushion Band-Aids relieve the pressure and speed healing. They are also clear and inconspicuous.

To have pretty sandal feet, treat yourself to a scrub a few times a week, and follow up with a glycolic pad treatment, to give your feet a glow. St. Scrubs – St. Ives – Renew and Firm Apricot Scrub and St. Ives Scrub-free Exfoliating Pads are both under $5, so you can be lavish and have soft gorgeous feet. This treatment also works to beautify scruffy elbows and knees.

Orange, streaky fake tan
Banish a bad fake tan with lemons and brown sugar. Rub your skin with cut fresh lemon and scrub gently with brown sugar. Let the lemon set on the skin and let it soak in, then rinse well. You may need to repeat the treatment, but this works.
