Glamour is back

Natalie PortmanGlamour is back. At the recent Golden Globes the most stylish stars opted for old Hollywood elegance. Pureology PureArtist April Webster share her step-by-step how-to directions for three of the hottest young Holly wood trends: The elegant updo on Natalie Portman; long romantic waves, as seen on Megan Fox; and the adorable curly updo on Scarlett Johansson.

For an elegant updo:

Step 1:  Prepare the hair by spritzing eight pumps of Pureology ColourStylist on damp hair, then emulsify a golf ball-sized dollop of FortifyingHeatSpray ColourStylist SilkBodifier, and apply throughout hair.
Step 2:  Blow-dry using a large round brush to smooth. Create a side part and sweep bangs to the side.

Step 3: When hair is dry, apply a small pea-sized amount of ColourStylist CuticlePolisher to the entire perimeter of the hair, and begin to smooth it into a low ponytail at nape.

Step 4:  After all hair is smooth and secure, twist it in a clockwise upward turn to create a “French Twist” without excess fullness.  Once the crown is reached, fold the ends down and back into the twist.  This will create the little fullness and "poof" in the crown. Secure with both open and closed bobby pins.

Step 5:  Finish the look with ColourStylist StrengtheningControl zero dulling hairspray.

Elegant waves on Megan FoxFor long, romantic waves:
Step 1: Prepare the hair by spritzing eight pumps of ColourStylist FortifyingHeatSpray on damp hair, then create a custom blend of equal parts ColourStylist NourishingNectar and ColourStylist SilkBodifier.  Apply to mid-shaft, ends, finally the scalp

Step 2:  Blow-dry hair using a medium round brush.  Once hair is dry, curl it with  a 1-inch curling iron. Spray each section with ColourStylist StrengtheningControl hairspray prior to curling. Clip each curl with a single prong clip to allow the curl to cool.

Step 3: Remove clips when hair is cool and gently brush using a soft bristle brush.  Apply a small pea-sized amount of ColourStylist CuticlePolisher and push waves into the desired shape.

Step 4:  Finish the look with ColourStylist StrengtheningControl zero dulling hairspray.

Curly updo on Scarlett JohnssonFor a curly updo:
Step 1: Prepare the hair by spritzing eight pumps of ColourStylist FortifyingHeatSpray on damp hair. Then apply a quarter-sized amount of ColourStylist NourishingNectar, blended with one pump of ColourStylist AntiSplitBlowDry to the entire head of hair.

Step 2:  Blow-dry hair with a small round brush.  When dry, set hair using a half-inch curling iron. Use single prong clips to hold the curls in place as they cool.

Step 3:  Finger-rake curls to loosen and allow the hair to flow in its own natural pattern. Secure the perimeter with closed bobby pins to give shorter hair the look of an "up" style.

Step 4: Finish by smoothing hair into place with ColourStylist CuticlePolisher and misting with ColourStylist StrengtheningControl zero-dulling hairspray.

ColourStylist FortifyingHeatSpray and ColourStylist AntiSplitBlowDry really do stop your colour from fading and help protect your hair. I noticed a difference right away. The sprays make my hair shinier and less flyaway. ColourStylist CuticlePolisher  makes hair easier to manipulate into updos as well as sleeker looking.
