Chambord and Champagne

ChambordAndChampagneThis pretty cocktail is exactly what it sounds like: cold champagne with hint of Chambord, or raspberry liqueur. A Kir Royale is a famous cocktail made with Champagne and Crème de Cassis, a liqueur made from French black currants. Some people use Cassis syrup which is really not the same. I prefer Chambord’s brighter flavour and colour. It is French liqueur made from raspberries with Madagascar vanilla, Moroccan citrus peel, honey, and cognac.

This cocktail works well with any crisp, dry Champagne or even a good Italian Prosecco or Spanish Cava.

Chill your Champagne very well and fill your Champagne glass, leaving room to float a little Chambord on top. I like to chill my liqueur in small glass decanter to keep all the ingredients cold. I do not want to chill the whole bottle.

The amount of Chambord to Champagne is personal taste.

The classic recipe is

3½ ounces Champagne

½ ounce Chambord
