And here’s the all you need to know about the Brazilian Butt Lift.
DD: What is the Brazilian Butt Lift?
Dr. T.:  It’s an autologous fat transfer procedure. (Autologous means the same person is the donor as well as the recipient of the fat.) It allows men and women to enhance their buttocks to a more voluptuous and well-curved contours without the surgical insertion and large incisions of foreign implants. It also removes cellulite and tightens the butt skin. It is a more natural alternative than buttock implants.
Most patients prefer using their own fat to add volume and shape to their buttocks. And there is the added bonus of slimming their waist, back, or thighs. The procedure reshapes and refines the key areas of the buttock for increased volume, aesthetically pleasing projection, curvature, and proportion. Fat grafting assures lasting results and gives a very natural shape and feel to the buttocks.
Kim KardashianDD: How is it done?
Dr. T.: Excess fat from one or more parts of the body is removed by liposuction under local anesthesia. The abdomen, hips, back, and thighs are common donor sites. The liposuction is done with tiny canulas.
Fat cells are removed from and then they are re-inserted into different layers of the buttocks through very small incisions.
The procedure is performed totally under local anesthesia and takes about one to two hours. Also, fat transplantation minimizes the risk of your body rejecting the fat cells. The amount of fat you can have transferred from donor site to your buttocks will depend on your individual aesthetic goals. The ultimate results will usually appear smooth because we use a few small incisions while evenly distributing the fat cells.
DD: How long does the recovery take?
Dr. T.: There is very little overall discomfort which is easily handled by Tylenol. Patients are able to sit a few days after buttock augmentation surgery and typically return to work within several days, if their work involves prolonged sitting.
Patients need to wear a compression garment for up to two weeks, and can resume regular exercise after two weeks. Postoperative treatments are used to alleviate minor pain, smooth the results, remove cellulites, and speed recovery. A percentage of the fat will disappear during first two months, and the ultimate results will be evident after eight weeks.
