Spring is the perfect time to freshen up your look. Author, singer, and songwriter Tanille Edwards has beauty tips to help make you look and feel like a character in her latest glamorous romance novel, “Broken.”

Set in New York’s Upper Eastside “Broken” is about Milan, a young supermodel who is still struggling with all the normal teen issues as well as being hearing impaired.

Tanille’s glamourous beauty tips:

Never leave home without moisturizer, eyeliner inside the lower lash line, and lip gloss.

Pump up your eye color by coordinating a complementary smoky eye.

For an angelic look, try golden bronzer on places that the sun kiss likes your forehead, the bridge of your nose, and portions of your cheeks.

Use a light sweet pink blush and apply before you apply concealer to make it look very natural. Then, line your inner lower lids with white eyeliner and use black eyeliner only to complement your upper lash line and go light with the mascara.

Going matchy-matchy with your eye shadow and outfits isn’t always a bad thing, if you are going for a casual warm weekend look. In certain cases going with a very light dusting of eye shadow that matches your outfit can give you a put-together look without a lot of effort.

Ten fast, inexpensive ways to look fabulous this spring!

JLo knows how to work a shimmer on her legs!Do you feel less than fabulous? Have busy days, stress, and a hectic lifestyle left you with no time to be glamorous? Well darlings, here are 10 ways to look fabulous fast that will not break the bank. No more excuses, it is time to look and feel fabulous. You deserve nothing less!
1. Wash your face
Cleaning your face is a quick pick-me-up. Removing grime and old makeup makes you look and feel fresh. If you are in a hurry, use a clean washcloth or a cleansing wipe so you can leave eye makeup untouched. If you have a few more minutes, indulge in a refreshing mask to refine and moisturize your skin. You will look like you’ve been to the spa!
Try Olay Daily Facials Express Wet Cleansing Cloths or L’Oreal RevitaLift Radiant Smoothing Wet Cleansing Towelettes.
Intensive-C Radiance Peel from Murad is an instant burst of beauty. This salon quality treatment takes only minutes to brighten, smooth and hydrate. Antioxidant Vitamin C helps to reverse environmental aging after just one use. Glycolic Acid exfoliates to accelerate turnover and brighten skin, remove dullness and improve texture. Vitamin C and Indian Fig protect against free radical damage while enhancing skin clarity and luminosity.
Avène Cleanance Mask helps oily skin look fresh and clear without over-drying it. It contains Avène thermal spring water to soothe skin, botanicals to help regulate skin, zinc to purify, salicylic acid to exfoliate, and kaolin clay to absorb oil and impurities. Also available in better pharmacies in Canada as well as dermatologists everywhere.
Single treatment Balea masks from Germany and Me-time-treats by Montagne Jeunesse are two of my favourite little indulgences. They are designed as single treatment masques or scrubs, but there is enough in one packet to share with a friend or daughter. Balea masks are found at Shopper’s Drug Mart in Canada, and Me-treats can be found online and in many pharmacies. Both sell for about $2 per envelope.
2. Invert
Take a tip from the yogis and stars of the silver screen, and reverse your blood flow for a few minutes. Lie down, rest your legs against a wall, and rejuvenate. This is a good time to put a mask on your face.
3. Fluff your hair
A quick spritz of instant shampoo can perk up tired tresses. If you have a few minutes more, mist your hair with plain water and blow it back into shape. You do not need more products in your hair; the water and the heat from the dryer will reactivate whatever you used when you originally styled your hair. Add more and your hair may become gummy or greasy looking.
If you like lots of volume, invest in electric rollers; they are the pro’s secret weapon for reviving flat hair.
René Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo is my favourite dry shampoo. Some dry shampoos make hair look good, but your hair still feels grotty. Naturia leaves hair feeling fresh to the roots! Also, try it for any style, if you have hair that collapses. It really does give very fine hair extra staying power.
If you are on a budget, try a dry shampoo from Tresemme; they have a line for all different hair types. They smell fresh and cost about $5.
4. Blush
Add a touch of blush to look fresh and fabulous. Blush lights up your face. Choose a blush to look more luminous and powder blush for dry skin. Get your blush on, darlings!
Here are few of our universally flattering favourites: La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Plum Glow, CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Royal Plum. A golden bronze on your cheekbones will light up your face too. One of the prettiest powder blushes we have found is a warm golden rose by Chanel in Orchid Rose.
5. Whiten your teeth
There are few things more appealing than a bright, white smile. Whiten your teeth with Crest Whitestrips. They are fast, easy, safe and economical. Crest 3D White 2-Hour Express Whitestrips gives you a noticeably whiter smile in just two hours. I love this product because it works!
I also like Colgate Optic White toothpaste. It contains hydrogen peroxide, the ingredient in whitening strips and whitening mouthwash, and silica, to polish teeth.
6. Highlight your best features
A touch of highlighter can make you look glam in seconds. Add a touch of highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes or on the top of your brows to play up your eyes. Sweep a hint of "light" on the top of your cheekbones or around the bow of your lips. This how the stars get their glam glow. We love Benefit’s High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer. The shimmery pink liquid is a favourite of makeup artists. We know why – it’s magic.
7. Eyeliner
You can add fresh eyeliner over your existing eye makeup to freshen it up and add drama for evening. Liquid liner can make it pop. Pencil liner is easier to smudge for a smoky look.
The newest look is pop of bright coloured liner.
8. Play up your lips
If you are really rushed, you need nothing more than mascara and red lipstick to look polished. This spring and summer, lips are bold and bright in shades of coral, red, and hot pink! If red is not your style, go pale and glossy. The best nudes always have a pink or peach undertone.
Sonia Kashuk’s Matte Lip Crayon in Berry Nude is a big crayon that goes on fast and stays on. You can buy pricier versions, but I love this brand for under $10. My favourite go-to gloss is L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Lip Gloss. It comes in a zillion shades, stays on, and costs under $10. I have a ton of them.
Coral lip colours may remind you of your grandmother, but it the hottest colour around and surprisingly flattering. It is clear and soft. Another trick for quick red lips or coral is to find a flattering red or coral lip liner. Use it to line and fill your lips. Blot and top with balm or gloss. This pro trick also works well with a nude liner, and often looks less flat than many nude lip shades.
9. Play up your legs
Once the weather is warm enough for bare legs, make them look their best by them moist with a daily rub of a rich moisturizing lotion. Jergens Natural Glow will give your legs a pretty colour, or help you effortlessly maintain a sunless or natural tan. Or, try Olay Quench Daily Lotion Plus Shimmer. A little shimmer makes everyone look better. Rub some on your arms too! Many drugstore skin lotions are very effective as well as good value. Look for combinations of shimmer, colouring agents, and skin-firming ingredients to make the most of summer’s bare fashions. Shimmer body lotions are celebrity must — check out your favourite celebrity; she will be wearing some type of body shimmer!
10. Wear colour
Ditch the black and grey! This is the time to splash out in pastels, florals, or even a strong tribal print. A dress or top in a flattering colour will light up your face and make you look fabulous. Try it.
