Atlanta’s new housewife?

Recently, I attended an event called Glam it Up for girls in foster care, created by Marlo Hampton. She is rumored to be the newest addition to the Real Housewives of Atlanta. There has been no announcement by Bravo, and Marlo did not confirm or deny it when I asked her about it.

Marlo told me she wanted to give the girls “what she had not been taught a child.” She was brought up in the foster system and refers to her “hard-knock childhood”.
Marlo HamptonThe girls were given hair styling tips and hair dos by the fun and fabulous stylists of Urban Tangles:Alicia Igess, Denishia Nix and Sharmel Nix. They also received makeup lessons and manicures, to the beat of a DJ at the Midtown W Hotel.
I was impressed that the event included a spirited and effective etiquette presentation over lunch. Stephanie Hunt, the director of the Black Swanfinishing school gave the girls a quick course in manners and deportment. She was fabulous, as she breezed through tips in everything from Facebook to table manners.
I applaud Marlo Hampton for making these young women aware that it takes more than just pretty face to get ahead. I loved watching the girls as they tried to soak it all up.
Darlings, enjoy the summer – heat and all. It will be gone all too soon.
