Summer beauty must-haves

Summer is the time to looks fresh, healthy, and sexy. It would be great if we could roll out of bed looking like that but except on vacation most us need a little help. Here are a few of our favourite things to help you look beachy-perfect, even if you still have to go to work.

Floral Racer-back dress by Guess from Macy’s

Start with a good sun screen and a cute dress.

Lighten up your look by wearing a BB or Primer place of foundation. Amarte Natural Finish BB Cream brightens, softly conceals, and protects your face with a broad spectrum SPF 36. This is one of my 4-in-1-Pressed-Mineral-Makeupfavourites because it looks so natural it is like wearing nothing at all. It covers imperfections and gives skin a natural glow that looks beautiful in all lighting conditions. It contains titanium dioxide, Argan oil, elemental sulfur, and caviar extracts to hydrate and protect skin. It comes in two tints: Light and Natural $49.

Mineral makeup is a good choice for summer. It looks natural and doesn’t aggravate sensitive or acne-prone skin. I really like the Pür Minerals line. Its pressed powder foundation looks lighter and less cakey than other similar brands. If your skin is drier, Pür Minerals Color Correcting Foundation Primer Illuminate & Glow gives skin a lovely dewy finish. Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation evens skin and gives it a glow.

I often wear this under Amarte BB cream for that “naked but better” look that is so in now. If aren’t familiar with the Lumene line from Finland you will want to be as this “drugstore” line packs a beauty punch with anti-aging ingredients, such as wild arctic cloudberries and sea buckthorn berries. Both are powerful anti-oxidants. I love the way Lumene products make my skin look and feel.  Products with similar ingredients cost hundreds of dollars each. I also really like their BB cream.

Every girl needs a good bronzer. We love Chanel’s Lumiere d’ete Illuminating Powder – limited edition. It costs $65 and looks like a camellia in Chanel’s signature shiny black compact. The powder leaves a beautiful shimmering bronze on skin, but not a sparkle. Sweep it over your face for an instant glow.2284254

Physician’s Formulas Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil Bronzer is big bronzer with a golden highlight.  For about $15 this Argan-enriched bronzer will leave you looking sun-kissed.

Eyeliner is a must this summer. It was one of the biggest runway looks. Buy many want to skip eye makeup at the beach. If your lashes are lush you have them tinted* and skip mascara by the sea. Regular use of a lash serum like RevitaLash Advanced can really help to thicken skimpy lashes. Or try prescription Latisse. Both work very well and quickly. Latisse can turn blue eyes dark, so speak to your doctor. Liquid liner is a good choice for humid days because it stays put. Gel pencils that “set” also are summer friendly. L’Oréal Paris Super Liner So Couture Black Waterproof Eyeliner makes lining your eyes as easy as using a Sharpie. ButterLondon Wink Eye Pencil sets after a few minutes.

I am a huge fan of Rimmel London mascara. They make a line of fabulous mascaras that cost about $10. Rimmel London Wonder’Lash Mascara Argan oil will give you lavish doll-like lashes to rival any posh brand, if you like that trend. If you are into the bare, less-is-more look, try Dr. Perricone MD No Mascara, a tinted, lash-enhancing serum.

Every girl needs a bright classic red and soft, shimmery pink lip collar to get through the summer. Smashbox be Legendary Lip Gloss fills the bill. The super colour saturated lip gloss stays on but never looks heavy. You can change your look by changing the colour. True Red or Rich Rose will give you a polished or sexy look Coral with Shimmer or Pinky Pinky with Shimmer are beach-perfect shades. They are $24 each.

This winter has been crazy with bitter cold in the Northeast, ice storms in the South, and drought in the West – and everyone is ready for a spring break. But make sure you have smooth sun-ready skin, frizz-proof hair, hairless legs, and pretty feet. If you have been hiding any beauty sins under winter woolies it is time to get your face and body ready for exposure.

Hot, sunny destinations are no place for heavy makeup, but you need to protect your skin so a bare face won’t do.  Amarte Natural Finish BB Cream brightens, softly conceals, and protects your face with a broad spectrum SPF 36. This is one of nicest BB creams we have seen. It covers imperfections and gives skin a natural glow that looks beautiful in all lighting conditions. It contains titanium dioxide, Argan oil, elemental sulfur, and caviar extracts to hydrate and protect skin. It comes in two tints: Light and Natural $49. This looks just like naked skin but prettier.

Amarte has been the most popular skin care line in Korea since 2001. It recently launched in the U.S., introducing the Korean 4 step ritual of cleanse, hydrate, rejuvenate and protect. I have become addicted to Amarte exfolipowder.  This unique skin-smoothing powder turns to gel when activated by water.  The line combines traditional Korean Medicine and western science. Regular use leaves skin taut and glowing without any of the irritation you can get from harsher products. What I love most about Amarte exfolipowder is how it makes pores seem to disappear with a single use.   Exfolipowder

Also worth mentioning is that Amarte  is  beautifully packaged. It looks and feels luxurious and yet you can try the line for under $200 with their Heart& Seoul Collection.

DolceDolce note:

If you have tried anti-aging products, such as retinols, and stopped using them because your face became irritated, try Amarte. This line is formulated to be effective but non-irritating. It is ideal for women age 20 to 40, addressing the first signs of aging.
