A little battered but…

Recently, a dear friend posted this picture and text on Facebook.

The quote from Barbara Bloom beneath the image reads:

“When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something’s suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.”

I have seen the image and the text before, but it still resonates, in it I see survivors. Everyone who goes on a little battered– maybe even broken but mended and beautiful. It is a beautiful thought to begin the season.
