1. Dripping in jewels

The Oscar’s are exciting — and often controversial. For those of us who write about fashion and beauty it is important. No one can deny the power of celebrity – especially today. A popular celebrity can set a trend overnight.

And then there are the jewels. There are few places today that can compete with the Oscars for such sparkling display of jewel. This year I really enjoyed Oscar pre-show on E!. Stylist and Fashion Police host Brad Goreski did a fabulous item on how to match jewelry with your gown for maximum effect.

While, Goreski used the same type of opulent jewels and designer gowns that the stars borrow for the red carpet his pointers can be used by anyone.

Goreski, stylist to the stars explained that a strapless gown is the best way to show off statement necklace.   A plunging V-neck is perfect with elaborate chandelier or drop earrings and an updo or swept back hair, according to fashion guru. And what do you wear with a striking but tricky one-shouldered dress or asymmetrical neck-line, Goreski says, a bold bracelet of course.

On another note, this year no one seemed to talk about ageless beauty as they have other years. It is a shame because the amazing Gena Rowland was on the red carpet. She looked amazing and so chic. Not chic or  fabulous for 85 – just plain drop-dead fabulous.
